As we enter the new year, the Forum for Truth and Recognition (the Forum) begins the final few months of operations. The Forum is open for people to come forward and participate until Wednesday 18 March 2026.

I invite you to contact the Forum, share your experience, and be part of this individual and collective healing journey.

Since we opened our enquiry lines in October 2025, many have come forward to share their experiences. I have found that some people have shared their experiences with others before, but many are choosing to come forward and share them for the very first time.

People sharing their experiences with the Forum have shown incredible strength in the face of trauma as they come forward and use their voice to build this public record.

The Forum offers a unique opportunity for people to have their experience recorded publicly and included in a report to the Premier of Victoria. It is important that we take this time to listen and learn from people’s experiences so we can better prevent and respond to child sexual abuse in Victorian schools into the future.

I would like to remind people that if you choose to participate, you can do so anonymously, confidentially or publicly – it's entirely your choice.

We are also accepting written and creative submissions up until 18 March 2026. This could be a written account, voice recording, or expressed through an artwork, song, or poem. Submissions are a helpful way to share your experience if you would prefer not to talk to someone directly or if speaking about the experience is challenging.

While I continue to meet with people and listen to their experiences, I am also turning my mind to how I can best reflect what has been shared in my report. The report will be delivered to the Premier of Victoria in mid-2026 and will focus on the voices of the people who have shared their experiences with the Forum.

So, I invite you – in our final few months – to reach out and chat with us today about how you might like to participate in the Forum.

Your experience matters and should be heard.

Your sincerely,
Angela Connors
