The independent Forum for Truth and Recognition (the Forum) has commenced. The Forum has been established under the Inquiries Act 2014, for people to share their experiences of child sexual abuse in Victorian government schools and certain non-government schools prior to the year 2000.
This Forum was a key recommendation of the Board of Inquiry into Historical Child Sexual Abuse in Beaumaris Primary School and Certain Other Government Schools.
The experiences shared with the Forum will contribute to Victoria building a stronger shared understanding of the lifelong impacts of child sexual abuse in schools so we can better prevent and respond to it now and into the future.
The Forum’s approach seeks to support individual and collective healing. Guided by each person’s preference, experiences shared with the Forum will also contribute to an important public record of these experiences.
The Premier of Victoria appointed Angela Connors as Chair of the Forum. Angela will provide a report to the Premier mid-2026.
To participate people can contact 1800 967 933 (free call) or email contact@truthandrecognition.vic.gov.au.
Public information sessions will be held via webinar, with details found on our Community information sessions page.

Quotes attributable to Angela Connors, Chair of the Forum
“The Forum is a safe and respectful space where people’s voices will be heard. There is power in your truth, and every experience matters.”
“The enquiry lines are open, and I invite you to connect with the Forum. Between now and March 2026, I will travel across metropolitan, regional and rural Victoria to meet with people. To offer people choice, the Forum also welcomes people making written and creative submissions.”
