Forum for Truth and Recognition

There is power in your truth, and the Forum for Truth and Recognition is a place where your truth will be heard.

The Forum is an independent review of child sexual abuse in Victorian government schools and certain non-government schools, prior to the year 2000.

At the Forum, we have created a safe and respectful space for people who have experienced child sexual abuse at school to share their experiences, have their voices heard and contribute to an individual and collective healing.

Taking part begins with reaching out.

You can contact the Forum by phone, email or post and connect with one of our Engagement and Support Advisors.

You will be offered a range of options to share your experiences – how you participate is your choice.

You can book a personal conversation with the Chair of the Forum and share your experiences face-to-face or online.

You could also choose to write your experience down, record it or express it through an artwork, song or poem – whatever feels right for you.

Throughout your journey with the Forum, we will support you every step of the way.

The Chair of the Forum and other team members will also be travelling across metropolitan, regional and rural Victoria to meet with people closer to where they live.

If you choose to participate in the Forum, you will receive a pack with information about what to expect and how to access additional support. Throughout the process you will have access to trauma-informed assistance from trained professionals.

Your voice matters and you experience matters. Everything you share with the Forum will be handled with respect and confidentiality.

The experiences collected will contribute to the public record and a report that the Chair of the Forum will deliver to the Premier of Victoria in May 2026.

Together, we can build a stronger shared learning and understanding of the lifelong impacts of child sexual abuse in schools so that we can recognise the trauma experienced and better respond to it now and into the future.

If you would like to participate or learn more, please call or email the Forum. We’re ready to work alongside you and support you to share your experiences.

This is a healing journey that starts with your truth.
